Holidays in Russia – the Museum of Astronautics in Moscow

I visited this Museum yesterday, in the program “Museum Night-2018”. But it was so interesting that I decided to write about it separately. The space Museum is one of the largest scientific and technical museums in the world. The history of the Museum began in the second half of the XX century. Then, in 1964, a monument “Conquerors of space” appeared on the map of Moscow.
The titanium rocket at VDNH became a symbol of a qualitative technological leap of its time. The launch of the first artificial satellite of the Earth, the first living beings and the first man in space became the starting point in the world’s cosmonautics. So the space has become closer to humanity. Time to write history. In April 1981, The memorial Museum of cosmonautics was opened in the monument’s stylobate (at the basement). The evidence of the first successes and achievements of the national cosmonautics was presented here: the first spacesuits, the first artificial satellites of the Earth; spacecraft for the study of the moon and planets of the Solar system.

In 2009, the Museum was opened after reconstruction. The exhibition area was increased four times. Today, the modern exposition of the Museum consists of eight exhibition halls, a cinema hall and a conference room.
The Museum’s collection includes more than 96,000 items.
These are samples of rocket and space technology, material relics, documents, philately, numismatics, objects of decorative and applied art, collections of paintings and graphics. The modern exposition consists of the following halls:
* “Morning of the space age»;
* “Creators of the space age»;
* “Space house in orbit” (modern manned space);
* “Exploration of the moon and planets of the Solar system»;
• “Astronautics – to mankind»;
• “International cooperation in space»;
* “International space Park” (space States of the world, rocket and space industry of Russia);
* “History and culture of the space age”.
Geography of the Museum’s exhibition activity: Russia, CIS countries, Great Britain, USA, India, Australia, Mongolia, Germany, Spain, France, China. So, every day, space is getting closer.

Very beautiful lobby, where the Museum begins. It creates the mood for new knowledge. Very beautiful lobby, where the Museum begins. It creates the mood for new knowledge. These are bronze panels dedicated to ancient scientists: and sculptural images of the martyrs of space science – Copernicus, Giordano Bruno, and Galileo: On the ceiling you can see the idea of the structure of the sky in the middle ages: But the device, which was the first in history touched the moon: But most of all I was struck by the suit, which for the first time a man went into outer space. I thought the suit was metal, and it was made of fabric, something that looked like burlap! It is true, then the suits started to come closer to my ideas about them. It is true, then the suits started to come closer to my ideas about them. Even there is a special suit worn under a space suit, all woven from tubes of water. What for? This is a water radiator to remove excess heat, which is produced by the astronaut when working in outer space. If during the holidays in Russia you will be a lot and move quickly, maybe this costume will be useful to you? It was interesting to look at the space food and enter the space station MIR. It turns out astronauts sit in chairs on the contrary.
During the existence of the orbital station MIR,  42 Russian cosmonauts lived there. And the Americans were more, 44 persons, although the station was launched into orbit in the USSR. But the American astronauts had to get used to it for a long time. For them were very unusual living conditions – uncovered by the covers of pipelines, entangling all the walls. And yet there was a very strong smell of men who 2-3 hours a day doing sports! Interestingly space toilet is arranged – everything is based on suction. Moreover, the water obtained from the liquid waste is decomposed into hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen is released into space and oxygen enriches the air in the orbital station.At the end of my visit, I was waited by objects of space art. After all, space is not only scientific and technical achievements, not only the system of planets, comets, and stars. It is also an endless source of inspiration for people of art. As part of the exhibition project ” Beyond the Earth?” it’s possible to see how different artists imagined and felt the space. Some gravitated to improvisation and” space painting”, expressing their impressions and experiences in a free and relaxed form, combined color spots and lines, embodying the rhythms of the cosmos. But there are those who are inspired by spiritual quest, religious experiences, and sublime feelings. These are modern representatives of the current “cosmism”. Considering their works, you understand that the line separating us from the Universe of the Universe is illusory, and exists only in the consciousness of man. Inner spiritual search and unity became the search for the way to the temple of the spirit. During your holidays in Russia, these paintings will be interesting to you no less than the Tretyakov gallery.Since the beginning of the stellar era, the cosmos was accompanied by a Soviet man and in the home. This is evidenced by the exhibition of match labels dedicated to the space theme. There is no such Museum anywhere else. Your holidays in Russia will give you the opportunity to visit this unique Museum!
